I meant to respond to your ask privately, I guess because of spoilers + I wasn't sure if it was meant to be public. But I posted it publicly by accident, oops. I've deleted the post, so here's the response again as a new ask.
-----
Unfortunately (?), I really can't give you much to go on here. I basically don't visualize my characters at all!
I do visualize locations, just not people. I have a clear picture in my head of what 27's bedroom in Michael's crash looks like, but 27 herself is a blank in my head.
(I'm so used to doing this that I don't think I realized the extent of it until I tried to answer this ask. Although there was a time a while back when you and celestialmechanic both posted some fanart, and I didn't have a strong feeling about whether most of it looked "right" or "wrong.")
I do describe my characters on the page sometimes -- like you do -- so really the best I can do is to quote some of that "canon" material.
----
Keep in mind -- 11, 25 and 27 all changed their appearances when they left Michael's crash, so they will look different depending on which point in the story we are seeing them.
(17 chose to look the same way outside and inside, as she mentions in Chapter 34. This implies that the others didn't do this, but only in 11's case do we learn anything about the actual change in appearance).
All the Annes inside Michael's crash look like the same person, or like identical twins. After their departure, 11 and 25 and 27 no longer look like that person.
Anyway, here is what little we've learned from the text, which is also the extent of my own knowledge:
The Annes in Michael's crash have dark hair. (From chapter 3, "This new womanâs hair was dark like her own")
11
After her exit from Michael's crash, Eleven looks like "a girl, mid-teens probably" according to Jodie in ch. 25.
I think Jodie is low-balling it here -- Eleven gives off an intense aura of youth and freshness (which is what she wanted out of her post-escape appearance), but realistically looks more like 18, like a young college student.
Inspecting her body after her escape (chapter 34), Eleven describes herself as "petite," and "young, small, sleek, eye-catching," with "sleek, dainty fingers, ending in the glinting pearls of the nails."
17
From Chapter 33: "tangled, knotted hair, slick with sweat near the roots ... hands, rife with scar tissue ... have bad posture, I donât like taking showers."
In Michael's crash, she has that scar tissue as a result of her experiments with "the aux knife" and similar implements. It's not clear whether or not she would have similar scars later on, during her time with Hector.
During her time with Hector, she starts wearing what she calls her "veil" (ch 34), a magical illusion obscuring her face, covering it with animated black "scribbles" and a very wide Cheshire Cat grin. (It's described in the Sibelius scene in Ch 21.) I picture this as looking like the kind of thing you'd see in one of the Madoka witch worlds. She wears this "veil" most of the time (as she tells us in ch 34, she eventually even stops taking it off during sex).
During this time, she also takes to wearing "impossible clothing [...] Escher necklaces, Lovecraft dresses."
In the Sibelius scene, she wears a "frilly black [lace] dress ... dramatic, eye-catching, a bit much. But pretty, too."
25
After her escape, she is "a small person, short and slim" (chapter 27), with "short messy hair" (chapters 24 and 27).
She wears "quirky," eye-catching clothing. From Chapter 19:
She wore her white dress, the one that was originally white, anyway. The dress was torn in places, near the shoulders and around the hem. When Moonâs clothes tore, she would carefully extend the damage with scissors, creating some new design, jagged but purposeful. He had never seen her fully give up on an article of clothing, though it must have happened.
And chapter 27:
an orange t-shirt, a yellow pencil skirt, a black bowler hat atop a mop of short, messy hair [...]
this ratty orange t-shirt, with an energy-drink logo printed on it in black, and stark block letters below it spelling out GAMER BURST
She carries her body in an unusual way, as described in Ch 19:
Her posture never failed to intrigue. Moon seemed to abhor simple forms and right angles â aesthetically, physiologically, morally, or all three. She folded herself into any available space, and stood or sat with a jaunty tilt whenever balance permitted it. On her last visit, she had perched on the kitchen counter like a gargoyle. This time she merely reclined against it, but in her own way, one leg bent to rest on the drawers, the other flat on the floor, one arm reaching way out with its fingers idly drumming the counter surface, the other up in her hair where it pulled at some knot or itch.
27
The text has very little to say about Twenty-Seven's appearance -- before or after her escape -- and likewise, I have no clear image of her.
Relative to the other post-escape Annes, I picture her as being somewhat taller, more "normal"-looking / not deliberately weird, more sober in affect. Big-sisterly, basically, as befits her role in the group.
In Chapter 39, it's stated that her official outfit on Stein's rock involves both the Wolf Squadron camo-print fatigues and the Blackhat trilby + vape pen. It might be amusing to depict her this way, but then again, it's also stated that she rarely actually wears this stuff in practice.
here are the prompts for the character designs if anyone is curious

----------
âNo,â Adrien growled. âAbsolutely not!â
Lila made a show of crying, not that anyone in the room believed her tears were real.
Gabriel frowned at him from his desk. âThis will be good for the brandââ
âFuck the brand!â
âAdrien! This is unbecoming. You will be seen to be dating Ms. Rossi. That is final.â
Adrienâs fists were so tight he was sure he had crescents eating into his palms. âLike hell it is! I will not date thatââ he gestured at Lila ââlying cow. Not after how sheâs hurt my friends.â
Said girl gasped, outraged, and Adrien was glad to see she actually looked truly upset.
His father stood, but kept his voice emotionless, calm, self-assured that he would capitulate. âCease this ridiculous teenage rebellion.â
He saw red, but oddly it calmed him. âFather, you have not seen teenage rebellion,â he said, his voice almost terrifyingly calm. âBut I would be happy to teach you what it looks like if you try to force me to do this.â
Gabrielâs eyes narrowed behind his glasses. Adrien could see him considering that, but then discarding it. âIt will be in the papers tomorrow. If you misbehave, youâll no longer be permitted to go to school.â
Adrien snorted. He knew more ways to escape this house than his father could possibly anticipateâsome heâd made himself, even. âGood luck, Gabe. Youâre going to need it.â
He spun on his heel before his father could respond and slammed the door behind him. With the enhanced strength he had as the Black Cat Miraculous chosen, the wood cracked audibly.
As he made his way back to his room, he realized the opportunity his father had just placed in his lap. As the face of the brand, Adrien had more power than Gabriel seemed to realize. It was time to stretch those muscles.
He had planning to do.
---------
His father had spectacularly good timing for pulling this kind of stuntâfor Adrien, anyway. Heâd heard from a couple of friends of his that a certain rock star was in town. And if anyone was up for promoting teenage rebellion, Adrien had no doubt it would be Jagged Stone.
It was childâs play to sneak out of the house. He didnât even have to transform to do it. From there it was just making his way to the Grand Paris Hotel. The staff assumed he was there to see ChloĂ©, so getting in was no problem. Jagged Stone always rented the same suite, so that wasnât an issue, either.
The hard part, he knew, would come after he knocked on the door.
Jagged opened the door, and then peered at him suspiciously.
âUm, M. Stone, I donât know if you remember me butââ
The rock star suddenly broke into a wide grin. âOh, youâre Marinetteâs model friend, right?â
Adrien blinked. Maybe this wouldnât be so hard. His rock idol knew him?
Sadly, he had no time to fanboy.
âYes, Adrien. I was wondering if I could trouble you for some help?â
And so that was how Adrien Agreste wound up sitting in Jagged Stoneâs suite, petting Fang, and telling him about the woe that was the obsession his father had with Lila Rossi, Liar Extraordinaire.
âShe said I had a what?â
âA kitten. And she got Marinette expelled and is just being really awful to her.â
Jagged opened a cell phone. âPenny, I need you. Yes, I know I sent you for macrons, but this is really important. Bring my niece with.â
When he was finished, he turned to Adrien again. âWeâll get that taken care of.â
âThatâs not all, M. Stone.â
He pressed forward, telling his idol of the relationship he was being forced into and his promise to show Gabriel Agreste just what he could do if he really rebelled.
When he was done, Jaggedâs face was gleeful in an almost terrifying way.
âOh, please tell me I get to help with this?â At Adrienâs nod the man whooped in excitement. âBrilliant. Once my niece gets here, weâll plan properly. Sheâs a planner, that one. Smart as a whip.â
Adrien blinked. âYour niece?â
âMarinette, of course! Honorary niece.â
His jaw dropped. Marinette had always had the upper hand on Lila, could call in Jagged at any moment to destroy her, and had held back. He never shouldâve stopped her.
âMy father canât know she helped. Heâs got so much power in the fashion industry, and I donât want to hurt her career.â
Jagged waved away his concerns. âMate, listen. From what I understand youâre the face of that company. You have the power, not him. Get you in some Marinette originals, and he canât undo the fame thatâll bring her.â
Adrien hadnât considered that. âI just donât want her hurt.â
He heard the door open, and then a soft, âAdrien?â
It meant he had to explain the situation all over again, letting Jagged Stone assure her that he was going to pop the liarâs kitten whopper as soon as possible.
âI can stop by your school with Fang, yeah? They canât keep me from saying hi to my favorite niece.â
Marinette bit her lip. âThat would be helpful, but for AdrienâŠâ
Adrien smiled. âI want you to design me a new look. Something we can do here and nowâmaybe with the discrete help of some of the hotel staff, since they have that nice spa and such. Hair dye, new clothes. Maybe some fake piercings. Oooh, a fake tattoo?â
Jagged glanced at Penny, who looked uncertain about this. âDonât be a party pooper, Penny.â
âHis father might sue you,â she pointed out.
âLike I care. I have money.â He grinned. âAnd for what? Giving his kid a makeover?â
âFrench lawââ
âNope, donât care. Itâs happening. Get his sizes and go to my favorite stores. Adrien, what color scheme?â
Adrien blinked. He hadnât thought that far. He glanced at Marinette. âUm, do you think Chat Noir would mind if I used his colors? I think of him when I think teenage rebellion.â
That was more because being Chat Noir had up to this point been his way of rebelling, but she didnât need to know that.
To his surprise, Marinette grinned, the smile wide enough to match Jaggedâs. âOh, I like that idea. Chains and spikes? Fake lip ring and septum?â
âAbsolutely!â
Jagged made a shooing motion at Penny, who rolled her eyes and headed toward the door, before joining in. âNow how about this idea: black and neon green hair, done to look like a skunkâs stripes!â
Adrien was surprised to find himself laughing honestly at the idea. Heâd been so angry less than an hour ago, but this was truly fun. âThis makes me think of those J-Rock bands, how they used to dress up.â
Jaggedâs phone let out a guitar riff and he glanced at it. âOh, right. Penny needs your measurements. Shoe size, too. Definitely some stomping boots, I think.â
He handed over his unlocked phone for Adrien to text.
âIâll call the salon, yeah?â
Adrien nodded, texting the information, then froze. âWait, ChloĂ© might tell my father.â
That got a laugh. âNah. Theyâre discrete. They bring everything up here for meâI wonât be around people if Iâm getting my hair dyed.â
While Jagged made the call, Adrien finished the text. When he looked up, Marinette was watching him. She turned pink when she realized heâd caught her.
âAre you sure this is a good idea?â she asked after a moment.
He sighed, slumping back on the sofa and resting his hand on Fangâs head again. âNo, but I donât have any better ones. That stupid news claiming Iâm with Lilaâs going to hit tomorrow. And Iâm so done with this, with him treating me like Iâm property.â
Marinette looked worried, and he tried to muster up a smile. From her expression, he didnât manage it.
âMaybeâŠâ she started, then trailed off.
âMaybe?â
She didnât look at him. âMaybe you should look into laws involving child labor and parental responsibility. You⊠you might be able to get emancipated.â
That startled himâsomething he hadnât even thought of before. He hadnât even been aware it was an option.
When Marinette did look at him, her eyes were stormy. âHeâs so⊠cruel to you. Maybe thereâs legal recourse.â
âIâll think about it,â he murmured. That seemed like such a drastic measure. âI donât know if I want to go that far.â
She nodded, and he excused himself to go to the bathroom.
Plagg shot out of his pocket the moment the door was closed. âIâm so proud of you kid. This is gonna be great!â
âThanks, Plagg.â
The kwami grabbed the proffered wedge of camembert.
âAnd think about what Pigtails said. Your dadâs a real piece of work, and you deserve better.â
âI will.â
Adrien could feel the idea turning over in his mind, as though gathering strength. When he left the bathroom, Jagged met him excitedly.
âI have just the idea! A temporary face tattoo!â

more directorâs commentary: Escher Ch. 9
paragrin said: Directorâs commentary on the Asherah fight and/or subsequent discussion/awakening?
Letâs see...
I do not like writing fight scenes. Fight scenes are HARD. My biggest concern in this one was having them lose believably.
Her mother's Shadow wasted no time, but immediately blurred and distorted and dammit, they'd never been ambushed by a Palace ruler beforeâ
"Get ready to defend!" Yusuke yelled to Hifumi. Dammit, she should have had him take the Snuff Soul after allâ
"The floor!" Hifumi yelped.
Asherah is, per Wikipedia, strongly associated with trees in the Bible. Thatâs the main inspiration for the Shadowâs form. I canât remember how I came up with the rootlets on the floor, but I may have wanted a reason to have everyone playing âthe floor is lavaâ BESIDES all the little jars of Greek fire.
From the safety of Prometheus, Futaba looked down. There were â tendrils, spreading across the floor, twining around the clutter. She didn't want to follow them back, but did anyway, to see them thicken and join into â roots.
"You shouldn't be here!"
Her mother's Shadow was a tree.
Or. An Ent. Except the Ents in the movies only acted like they had two arms and decorative branches, as opposed to all the branches acting like arms, which really made more sense even though it was harder to fight, and really most of the Shadows they'd fought had been more grotesque, this was nothing reallyâ
Asherah, Prometheus informed her. Strengths and weaknesses currently unknown.
It still had her mother's face.
I think the body horror is getting to Futaba just a bit. She wouldnât care, if it wasnât her mother.
Below, both Yusuke and Hifumi had managed to get clear of the roots â Yusuke was standing on a plinth, Hifumi balancing on a stone lion-dog. Yusuke was adjusting one of his boots. The rootlets were waving up at them from the floor, but not achieving any elevation gains.
One thing I enjoyed writing was specifying what features of the ridiculously cluttered and clashingly-furnished room they were standing on while playing âthe floor is rootletsâ.
One of the higher branches trembled, then lowered, and shook, and then Yusuke and Hifumi were being hit with a volley of acorns that did gun damage. Not too bad, but⊠not negligible, either.
"No info on weaknesses yet, guys," she said anxiously. "Just⊠be careful?" She really didn't need to worry, it wasn't like anything they'd done to the Palace-ruling Shadows in monster form had hurt the peopleâ
How DOES that work, anyway?
"Fox, try ice," Hifumi said. "I'm going to stick to my bow for now⊠getting in close enough for melee doesn't seem practical."
Futaba assessed the results. "Resists ranged weapons, but it's not doing nothing⊠ice is connecting, but it's not a weakness." She'd thought ice might do more damage to a tree⊠but the weakness was probably fire. Not that that did them any good. Damn it, and Mona had mentioned something about tools that did elemental damage, but Futaba didn't know anything more about them because Akira had never used any when she was around because he could just use whichever Persona was neededâŠ
Damn Wild Cards...
A different branch reached down, and out, and hit Yusuke with a melee attack which he managed to counter. The branch recoiled.
"How did you get all the way up here?" Asherah demanded.
"We climbed a lot of ladders," Hifumi said, and tried wind.
What kind of a stupid question is that, there are ladders everywhere. How did you get IN, thatâs a better question.
"Same as ice, neither a strength nor a weakness," Futaba reported.
Yusuke did more damage with a stronger spell. "I need the Snuff Soul to keep this up."
"Use it," Hifumi said. "I'd suggest running, but the exitâŠ"
The exit was covered with a network of rootlets. Damn it.
Had to keep them from running away since they hadnât technically calling-carded so the âone chanceâ thing PROBABLY isnât a issue. Not that theyâre trying to steal the Treasure...
"Who sentâ" Asherah broke off. "Children. You're children!"
"I'm not a child," Hifumi said indignantly.
(Kiddo, youâre in middle school.)
Researchers at the lab have had âteenagers get Personas easierâ for a while now, and theyâre coming up with ideas to exploit it, and Wakaba has been doing everything she can to shut it down/head it off. The Metaverse isnât safe, and she wouldnât trust the people whoâve slithered onto the project with supervising children taste-testing cookies. Actual Wakaba doesnât think that the conspiracy already has teenage Metaverse operatives, the Shadow just jumped to that conclusion immediately. Because it does want them!
"How dare they," Asherah said. Yet another branch came down, this one covered in flowers. "This isn't right."
If that wasn't a status effect in the making, Futaba didn't know what was. "Guysâ"
The branch showered Yusuke in flowers, andâ Sleep.
Of course he immediately toppled off the plinth onto a delicate sandalwood chest and crashed through to the floor, and that woke him right up. Not in time to completely avoid the rootlets, though.
I learned after writing that apparently Sleep works differently on different difficulty levels? âNormalâ is probably closest to canonical...
Hifumi managed to evade another cloud of flowers by jumping from the lion-dog to a stack of books to a creepily smiling statue. "Oracle? What's this now?"
"Sleep," Futaba said. "There's armor to resist sleep, but we don't have it, because no one uses sleep, because you wake up the first time you get hit!" Or it could be fought with some kind of medicine they didn't have, or a healing technique which Futaba might be able to get ready at the right momentâ "Fox isn't hurt â more â he's just⊠a little tied up."
"Was that supposed to be funny." Yusuke was half-standing, leaning on the plinth, using his sword to cut himself loose from the rootlets twined around his boots, up nearly to his knees. "I don't think it was funny." The sword was obviously not the best tool for the job. Hifumi's naginata would be worse yet â hopefully she could continue avoiding getting caughtâŠ
It was kinda funny.
"As soon as you're loose, Fox, agility buffs," Futaba said.
Hifumi got off another volley of arrows before she had to run from the flowers again â statue to reliquary to another lion-dog to Yusuke's plinth, to give him a hand up. "I'm not sure he shouldn't save his magic for the ice attacks, they're the only thing doing any meaningful damage!"
"Yes, but he's going to need agility to jump around avoiding the sleep attacks so he can use the ice attacks!"
Hifumi is the combat strategist, Futaba is the Metaverse-experienced person and does more logistics, and Yusuke mostly does what they tell him.
"I'm right here," Yusuke said mildly. He went with the agility buffs, and just in time â more flowers, and they had to run in opposite directions.
"Stop fighting â I don't wish to hurt you!"
"Sorry, Mom's Shadow," Futaba muttered, "not gonna take your word for that."
It genuinely does not want to hurt them, but honestly I wouldnât trust it not to hurt them by accident even if they werenât fighting.
The battle didn't improve from there, although not in the usual way. Asherah stuck to attacking with the sleep flowers, which it was easy to see coming and which could be evaded â assuming there was something other than the rootlet-covered floor to jump to. The most damage either of them took was when Hifumi slipped off an urn and landed on one of the smashable fire pots. She wasn't on fire for very long, thanks to Yusuke's questionable but effective use of an ice spell and the Shadow using a recovery spell on her, but it put enough of a dent in her health that she had to use a remedy.
If they werenât so exhausted and nervous, theyâd probably be commenting more on how itâs a really ridiculous-looking fight. The room looks ridiculous, theyâre playing âthe floor is lavaâ on really tacky statues, the enemy is healing them... But the fight isnât going well, so theyâre focused on trying to turn it around.
Asherah just wasn't taking much damage, either. A few windtorn twigs, some marks in the bark from arrows or bullets, an ice gouge or three â not nothing â but it wasn't like they'd be able to keep this up indefinitely! Prometheus could do some magic restoration, but it wasn't keeping up!
"Say the word if you see a chance to get out, Shade," Futaba said finally. Running from a Palace-ruler fight felt all kinds of wrong, but it wasn't like they'd sent a calling card that would wear off.
"I've been looking," Hifumi replied tightly.
âŠNot good.
"Stop fighting!"
The first time Hifumi got hit with the sleep flowers, she managed to sort of drape herself over the statue whose plinth she was sharing and avoid falling to the floor â which was great as far as not being tied up by rootlets and having to try to cut her way loose with a naginata, but on the other hand the fall would have woken her up. It took Futaba several tries to muster a recovery spell to get rid of the sleep. In the meantime, Yusuke had the Shadow's complete attention and had to devote himself completely to dodging â no counterattacks, no agility buffs, no arginade. He was running out of places to jump to when Futaba managed to get Hifumi awake to distract Asherah with another attack. From her dwindling ammunition supply.
I think if theyâd had even one more active combatant to split the Shadowâs attention they might have won.
Futaba had kind of been thinking they had until Yusuke ran out of magic to come up with something, but it was beginning to look like they'd be lucky to make it that long.
Iâm going to break off here -- may continue later.

Your Ch.5 video made me realize a way that BATIM could've foreshadowed the studio being "fake" in a way that also connects to the cartoon theme: an out-of-the-way door that opens to a flat wall with a drawing of a room, Roadrunner-style. With that and a couple of side areas where low-priority details are left unfinished (because Joey got lazy), the studio being unreal could be hinted at in a way people might pick up on.
Anything that would make the player question reality would be good. Other ideas:
You encounter a realistically-modeled object with color in one of the rooms
The thing with Henryâs desk repeating but in Chapter 3/4 rather than only like 15 minutes before the reveal
Just more rooms repeating in general or escher-esc building design that doesnât make logical sense (like you walk through part of Bendyland when fetch-questing for Alice on the upper floors)
Joeyâs storyboards spread out on his desk (which you encounter earlier in the game)
Some NPCs showing up as only half-drawn/roughly sketched in

If Virgil thought his home at the Inn provided him a window to the galaxy, the space port was like blowing a giant hole in the wall. It was massive, nearly impossible to navigate. The entire thing existed as a hodge-podge of white buildings and layers of docks, lifts, catwalks and pathways all in the shape of a crescent just on the edge of Montressorâs orbit. From the planetâs surface, it looked like a moon permanently stuck in the crescent phase. The entire port glowed, giving off a faint light - just like a real moon - and ships of all sizes sailed to and fro overhead, either docking or taking off. Aliens from all corners of the galaxy milled through its pathways, the strangest of them all being Virgil, the only human in sight.
Virgil looked around in complete wonder as he got off the transport ship. Fellow passengers passed him by, giving him dirty looks. A heavy-set anthropomorphic frog woman with a small head and a strange furry pet in her arms, a man who almost looked human - if it werenât for the anteater snout on his face or the leathery, bald skin covering his entire body - Â a man wielding some sort of stringed instrument over his shoulder with tendrils for hair, grey flesh, and the nose of an elephant seal all passed him by as they exited the ship. He wasnât focused on them, though. He was looking at the space port. It was like a sci-fi M.C. Escher artwork; Virgilâs eyes were dazed trying to decipher where one catwalk met another, where that pulley system was anchored, how those people below him reached the top pathways. If he looked closely, he could see the gaps between the structures, and the brief thought of falling into empty space unnoticed brought him back to attention.
He didnât want to have to explain to his dad that the entire trip got cancelled because Logan wasted his money recovering Virgil from his float through deep space.
âVirgil? Virgil!â Logan called behind him, finally making his way off the ship. While Virgil had elected to bring nothing - what could he bring? His entire home burned down - Logan had brought several bags of varying sizes containingâŠ. God knows what. Heâd said, âyou never know what you might need when traversing uncharted territory into the realm of piracyâ. Whatever that meant.
Virgil turned just as Logan got off the ship and had to laugh. Logan was wearing possibly the weirdest get-up he had ever seen in his life, and thatâs saying something. He was wearing some sort of space suit; an imposing, bulbous thing in mustard yellow that clanked and shifted with every step, a few buttons resting below the rim of the helmet and a large red⊠thing on the stomach. Logan pressed a button that released the lock on the glass faceplate, giving Virgil a forced kind smile. âWell, if nothing else, this shall be an⊠opportunity to get to know each other, I suppose.â
Virgil rolls his eyes. âLook, letâs just find the ship. This place is a fucking maze.â He starts walking, Logan trailing after him silently. Virgil shrugs it off. Heâs only being nice to me because of my dad⊠And because I have the map. He huffs and starts walking faster.
âSecond berth on your right.â The robot calls down from the ladder heâs climbing.
âYou canât miss it.â comments the stout, red alien steadying the ladder.
Virgil gives a grateful smile. âThanks.â He turns to descend the staircase, leaving Logan to catch up. Logan huffs and hurries down the stairs, hesitant to lose Virgil in the crowds.
âItâs the suit, isnât it?â Virgil doesnât answer. âI shouldâve never listened to that two-headed sailsman. This one said it fit, that one said it was my color⊠I just get so flustered in those situations, I suppose. Iâve never been good with handling people.â Virgil stops, and Logan nearly runs into him. He stops just short of the teen and looks up. âAh, yes, here we are. The I.M.G. Nation.â
It was a nice-looking ship, with a smooth cream-colored body and amber trimmings. Large solar sails rose high above them, held aloft by amber-and-gold-plated masts. Virgil climbed the catwalk up to the ship, grinning. âWhoaâŠâ
Pulley systems delivered crates onto the deck, directed by crew and pulled into place before being released from their ropes. All around crew bustled about, maintaining the deck, managing supplies, and following directions to prepare to embark. Virgil stopped short as a crew member bustled by, taking extra precautions to make sure he wasnât in anyoneâs way.
âStow those casks forward! Heave together, now!â A man called from the base of the main mast. His lean and fit form was made of stone, but not in the sense that his body was a collection of stones pressed together; it was as if his entire body was one large stone with chiseled edges, somehow granted the ability to move and flex and bend. He wore a couple medals pinned to the breast of his blue coat and a tricorn hat atop his head, completed with cream-colored pants and black boots.
Virgil turned in a circle, watching crew members move about the masts and use the ropes. âThis is so coolâŠâ He took a couple steps backwards, bumping right into someone. Virgil flinched, spinning around to apologize only to be met with what appeared to be a very angry⊠blob? Slug?
The blob alien had many⊠tentacles? Snouts? Along its pale body, holes cut into its vest to allow for them to rest freely. A few more protruded from its face where a mouth and nose would be. âS-sorry, I didnât-â The alien let out what Virgil could only think of as farting noises from itsâŠ. okay, guess those are snouts? And raised its fists as if declaring a fight. Virgil took a step back, eyes widening. Not even on board for five minutes and heâs already gotten in trouble.
Logan walks up behind him. âExcuse me, ahâŠâ Logan blew a few raspberries, filled his mouth with air and pushed his cheeks in to release it, and made a few armpit-fart sounds. The alien stared at him for a moment before letting out the farty equivalent of a laugh and flapping its hand in the universal âoh stop, you!â gesture, slithering away.
Virgil blinked. What just happened?
âIâm fluent in Flatula, Virgil. It is an incredibly complex language that takes years to master. I studied it in high school.â Logan informed the human with a smug grin before continuing to cross the deck.
âFlatula, huh?... Cool.â He grinned and followed after the astrophysicist.
Logan walked up to the stone man, extending his hand. âGood morning, captain. Is everything in order?â
The stone man took his hand with a soft smile. âIndeed, it is! But Iâm not the captain. The captainâs aloft.â He gestures up to the masts, Virgil and Logan looking up.
A cat-like man swings from a rope effortlessly, landing along a supporting beam and running across it before grabbing another rope and using the momentum of the swing to jump to the deck, landing on his feet with an elated cry.
He was lithe, of average height, but everything about him was pure muscle and power. His jaw was angular, almost small, and he had a broad nose that ended with a pink, leathery tip and nostrils, much like a real cat. His ears were wide and pointed, set higher on his head than a humanâs, his chestnut hair styled perfectly side-swept and voluminous, and he wore a red-and-gold jacket, cream colored pants, and white gloves. He crossed his arms, grinning at the newcomers before making his way over, speaking in a regal tone.
âMr. Picani! I have checked this ship from stem to stern and-â His tone softens, âitâs spot-on, as usual. Can you get nothing wrong?â He grins at the stone man, his first mate.
Picani tips his hat. âYou flatter me, captain!â
The captain moves on to Logan and Virgil, pausing as he takes in Loganâs suit. âAh⊠Doctor Abbott, I presume?â He speaks louder, slower, as if he expects Logan to be of a lower intellect. âExcuse y-â The captain knocks on the glass plate, grinning. âHello~! Can you hear me?â Logan scoffs and pushes the glass plate up from where it had fallen during his walk to the ship. âYes, I can! Stop that; itâs highly fatuous.â The captain puts a hand to his chin, grinning as he watches Logan struggle to get the helmet off and fail.
âIf I may, this suit works better when itâs turned to the right,â he grabs the red thing on the suitâs stomach, turning it to the right. A plug pops out, âand plugged in.â He grabs the plug and forcefully turns Logan around, plugging it into the bag attached to the suitâs back. âThere you go! Youâre welcome.â
The helmet comes off with a pop and Logan turns to glare at the captain. âI can manage my own equipment; your assistance was not necessary.â The captain takes his hand and shakes it, looking around almost as if he were bored, if it werenât for the self-satisfied smirk on his lips.
âIâm captain Roman Amamoto, Iâve had a few run-ins with the Protean armada, but ah! I wonât bore you with my scars.â He winks and Logan huffs in annoyance. Roman moves to Mr. Picani, nudging him with his elbow. âYouâve met my first mate, Mr. Picani. Sterling, tough, dependable, honest, brave, and true.â
Mr. Picani laughs lightly. âPlease, captain!â
âOh shut it, Picani, you know I donât mean a word of it.â From the grins the two share, that must be some inside joke of theirs. Logan clears his throat.
âWhile Iâd hate to interrupt this⊠lovely banter, may I introduce Virgil Shae?â He wraps an arm around Virgil, drawing him closer to the adults and pulling his attention away from the hustle and bustle of the ship. âVirgil is the one who found the tre-â
Roman clamps a clawed hand over Loganâs mouth. âDoctor, please.â Two nearby crewman who were evidently listening in go back to working. Roman sighs. âIâd like a word.â
The door of the stateroom shuts, and Roman turns the lock, turning to regard the two men standing before his desk. âDoctor⊠to run your mouth about a treasure map in front of this crew shows a level of simple-mindedness that borders on the imbecilic. And I mean that in a very caring way.â He grins almost mockingly. Virgil has to stifle a laugh. Who knew someone would actually school Logan in something? Who knew there was someone out there who could make Logan look like an idiot?
âImbecilic? Thatâs foolish, Iâve-â
âMay I see the map, please?â
Logan looks at Virgil. Virgil shrugs helplessly. Logan sighs and gestures to Roman. Virgil grimaces slightly, taking the orb out of his pants pocket and tossing it to Roman. âHere.â Roman catches it effortlessly, turning it over in his claws to inspect it with interest. He grins. âFascinating.â He levels a serious look at Virgil as he turns to lock the orb in a small chest, hidden in his armoire. âMr. Shae, in the future youâll either address me as Captain or Sir, is that clear?â
Virgil scoffs and rolls his eyes. Romanâs ears perk up. âMr. Shae.â
Virgil ducks his head, glaring. âYes, sir.â
âGood.â Roman locks the armoire and turns back to the others. âThis is going to remain under lock and key unless in use. And, doctor, again.â He leans into Loganâs space, getting in his face. âWith the greatest possible respect; zip your howling screamer.â Logan scoffs indignantly.
âCaptain, I assure you, I-â
Roman sits at his desk, fiddling with a drafting compass. âLet me make this as simple as possible. I. Donât much care. For this crew. You hired.â He points the compass at Logan accusingly and Logan crosses his arms, eyebrow raised. âTheyâre⊠How did I phrase it, Picani? I said something rather creative before coffee this morningâŠâ
Emileâs eyes drift towards the ceiling as if the memory will surface on the wood. ââA ludicrous parcel of driveling galootsâ, sir.â
Virgil raises an eyebrow. Wow, what?
Roman grins. âThere you go! Poetry.â
Logan purses his lips, gripping the table. âNow, see here-!â
Roman stands over Logan, smirking. âDoctor, Iâd love to chat - tea, cake, the whole nine - but Iâve got a ship to launch, and youâve,â He flicks Loganâs suit with a claw, âgot an outfit to buff up.â He straightens back up and crosses his arms behind his back, all business once again. âMr. Picani, please escort these two neophytes to the galley. Mr. Shae will be working for the cook, Mr. Moran.â
Virgil looks up from where heâd been messing with some swinging wall decoration, his hand dropping to his side. âWait, what? The cook?â

Ch 6 cover is an Escher reference
One thing I love about Witch Hat Atelier is how Kamome Shirahama mixes and matches a bunch of different art styles.
The overall style of the manga seems to be mostly inspired by illustrations from old fairy tales
(Household stories from the collection of the Bros. Grimm 1922)
But Kamome combined this Fairy Tale style with elements from many other styles, for example:
-Art Nouveau
("Zodiac" by Alphonse Mucha 1896)
("illustration for Le Morte Darthur" by Aubrey Beardsley 1893)
-Baroque
("A New Book Of Ornaments With Twelve Leaves" Matthias Lock and Henry Copland, 1752)
- Rococo
("The Apotheosis of Hercules" François Lemoyne 1736)
-Western Comic Style
The western style should come as no surprise since Kamome did work for DC Comics
There are probably a lot more art styles hidden in Witch Hat Atelier that I missed, so let me know if you spot anything else.

Reading Response 3
Ch. 3Â Imbuing personality -- "Never mistake motion for action." -- "Animation alone is not enough; visual design is also about personality." &Â strange design loops
The notion of imbuing personality (Artful Design, pg. 134) is equally applicable in violin playing - pulling a sound is not enough to tell a story; you have to give it personality by changing bow speed or the contact point or with a certain type of vibrato or the way to reach that note through a shift or glissando, or more. In fact, pg. 135's collection of expressive verbs could be applied in an aural domain as well. For me, well-designed things often have a strong story (linear or nonlinear) that it is portraying, and having a wide vocabulary or experimenting to find the best fitting word you can find is the name of the game.  Then, it comes down to understanding the mechanics of producing a sound that you are aiming for, through trial and error. The Golan Levin Yellowtail example is super cool to me, as I try to imagine a living catalogue of producing certain sounds in a library of expressive terms. Actually, that's corpus based synthesis, isn't itâŠ
(Side note on the Escher/auditory illusion spread on pg. 138 - composer David Bruce did a video on Ligeti's auditory illusory pieces: The M.C.Escher of Music?)
I also enjoy the concept of strange design loops/the medium is the message (Artful Design, pg. 138. Marshall McLuhan? :)), exploring endless iteration, fuzzy Gestalt, paradoxes⊠some of my project ideas or even my sense of humor comes from putting things together that don't necessarily make sense,  or just trying to break things. Specifically when I think of strange design loops, I think of fugues (disclaimer: not actual loops), which invite multiple voices to imitate and interact around a main theme, becoming a small self-sustaining universe. I love things with unreliable narrators, fourth wall breaks, nonlinear narratives; that turn the focus on you, are maybe disorienting, or somehow feel different depending on where you start in the book and loop back around to (Natsume Ono's Not Simple gave me an experience of reading a different story by starting at different places, as you fill in gaps of knowledge. I read it as a tween and maybe that's why I continue to like work that is complicated and breaks me a bit by the end lol xd). A compelling piece that makes you think about the whys and hows of its creation is what I enjoy the most and hope to create more of.Â

Just commenting to @thelostbarovianroyals that even though I replaced Escher with an OC for plot in our Saturday game, it doesnât matter when it comes to fancasting. Strahdâs male consort is 100% Freddie Fox.

Von der Kartoffelflocke zur Hochtemperaturpumpe
 Autor: Thomas Bleif
Read the full article

Weekly Update 11/9/18
General Studies:
Reading:
Some friends learned the poem, Number Rhymes, focusing on writing numbers 0-5. We practiced tracking by looking for the sight words line by line, as well as spelling the words. We learned the sight words, zero, one, two, three, four, and five.
Many friends are noticing sight words all around the classroom! One friend found the word âofâ on the tag of our bean bag! As we read with partners, the friends counted how many sight words they found in their book. We also found new sight words as we read, for example the words little and big. Some of the partner reading strategies discussed include: sitting together with one book,â âtaking turnsâ and âdoing something together after they finish reading the storyâ. The friends also learned the importance of helping their partner sound out challenging words and not giving the word away (âhelping not tellingâ).
Some friends learned how to read and spell words that contained the âchâ and âthâ digraphs. We used new Montessori activities to strengthen these skills such as reading silly sentences and matching it to the correct picture card and using the movable alphabet made from pumpkin seeds. We also learned new habits to become even stronger readers such as scooping up words in phrases. We even used a real spoon to help us! This habit helps readers strengthen their fluency and expression.
Writing:
This week, some of our friends received their journals! They were so excited to have a book where they can write freely about their daily activities and feelings. It will also be used to answer a fun writing prompt. The friends also used their 5 senses to write about the park. We even took our writing materials outside! They used the outdoors as a tool to help add more detail to their first drafts. We also worked on handwriting skills that focused on writing neatly and the proper use of capital and lowercase letters.
Other friends wrote stories telling their readers about their favorite things. They included reasons and details. Some friends worked on handwriting, practicing Frog Jump Capitals, where you lift (jump) your pencil to the next starting point.
Math:
This week in math some friends continued practicing how to add numbers using manipulatives such as unifix cubes, sticks, and drawings. They showed so much excitement creating and solving their own addition equations! We also reviewed writing numbers 0-10. Here are the rhymes that are helping us learn! 0: Around you go, around you go, thatâs the way you make zero! 1: Straight line down and then you are done. Thatâs the way to make the number one! 2: Round and back. Then across the railroad track. Two! Two! 3: Around a tree, around a tree. Thatâs how you make the number three! 4: Down and over and down some more. Thatâs how you make a four! 5: Put on a hat then take a dive. Make a belly. Now thatâs five! 6: Slide down and around to pick up sticks. Thatâs the way to make six! 7: Straight across and down from heaven. Thatâs the way to make seven! 8: Make an S, but donât wait! Come back up to make eight! 9: Make a loop and then a line. Thatâs the way to make nine! 10: Make a straight line down then around some men. Thatâs the way to make a ten!
Some of the other friends continued to work with addition equations and word problems within 20. They were introduced to the unknown number in an equation and this concept was so tricky, we spent and will continue to spend some time working with it. Â Â The friends explored with problems where the action, which represents the change, is unknown. For example, âBen has 5 pencils. He got some more from his mother. Now he has 9 pencils. How many pencils did Ben get from his mother?â We explored this method using concrete, pictorial and then abstract materials. They began to notice that their understanding of number facts within 10 will help them when adding and figuring out higher numbers as well. Additionally, some friends learned to use pictorial representations to write expressions, and demonstrate that they are equivalent by using the equal sign. The friends also learned to construct true number sentences such as 3+5 = 7+1 without misunderstanding the equal sign to mean that the numbers are the same. The friends understood that when added together, two numbers make a the same total, regardless of whether one of the numbers appears first or second in equations and expressions.
Cultural:
Last week, the friends explored the Story of the Universe and the Seven Days of Creation. We used our scientific, theory based, lens to understand what scientists think occurred when the Universe was created and simultaneously learned about it through a Torah lens. This week, we learned about the Timeline of Earth! Through an interactive scientific, theory based story, we were able to demonstrate just how much evolution there has been throughout the Earthâs 4,500 Million Year existence. We started with the Pre-Cambrian Era, when Earth was made up of water and rocks. We learned that through the Paleozoic Era, most life on Earth was found only in the water until lifeforms adapted for land. The Mesozoic Era was most popular among the children, as this was the Era when dinosaurs roamed the Earth! It was interesting to see the change of life and spread of continents throughout the waters. When we reached the Cenozoic Era, the children were able to make many more connections to lifeforms they are familiar with in present day, including Humans!
Ivrit:
This week the 5-7 friends continued to talk about the Stav and learned about the changes that occur in nature in compression with the changes that occur in Israel during This time of the year. For example, there are some Migrating birds (tziporim nodedot) that appear in Israel during the fall season like a bird called Nachlieli. It has zanav aroch (long tail) and is shachor velavan black and white). In addition, a beautiful plant called Chatzav, is blooming in Israel. However, we see snai (squirrels) only in Brooklyn and not in Israel.
Yahadut:
This week in Yahadut the friends learned about Parashat Toldot. We learned the story using our key words ( Esav, eikev- heel, Kol, yadayim) we learned about the tension between Yaakov and Esav. Some friends reviewed the breakdown of the Torah into the 5 sefarim. Other friends began our new Tefillah unit, about asher yatzar. We began by exploring the human body and discussing which parts of the body we think are most important. The friends were able to appreciate that there are so many parts of our body that we need to be able to function each day.
Specials Update:
Art with Steven Strauss
Monday and Tuesday Art classes completed their first project which began with an artistic technique called a wash, which means working wet on wet. Â Students applied a thin coat of saltwater to watercolor paper, then dripped food coloring and observed how the colors spread and mixed. Â The following lessons focused on font, pattern, line and shape. Â Students used pencil then black marker to sketch their names, then transferred their designed names to the drip-colored background. Â This name-based project allowed me to learn students' Â names, get to better know them as artists and people. Â
Thursday classes moved forward to a project based on the artwork of M.C. Escher. Â Students created circle stencils, repeatedly traced the stencil onto 9x12 bristol board, outlined the circles and filled in the negative space with black marker. Â Then we moved into color and pattern, and students are painting in the circles with primary and secondary colors.
Gym with PopFit Kids
What a great kick off month for our FUNctional Fitness program at Luria Academy! With our goals of having each child develop a true appreciation for physical fitness and a positive association with movement - whether it be jump roping, agility drilling, soccer ball kicking or running - we are excited to implement our versatile curriculum and find something special in each childâs wheelhouse.
Students were introduced to some of the fundamental principles of Fit Five exercising by starting out each class with a fun dynamic warm up to help activate the body. High-knees, walking leg extensions and low down lunges are just a few of the active movements that sets each class in motion.
Over the course of the first few sessions we worked on the start of basic locomotor skills, building through a combination of relays and drills that included running, galloping and jumping tasks as well as an introduction of cooperative games toward team building on and off the court.
We have definitely seen a ton of smiles and a few ah-ha moments out of the gate. There is nothing better than having fun, learning and getting exercise all at the same time.
Music with Yoshie Fruchter:
Last month at Luria, we had a blast continuing our fun and musical exploration! We focused on the concepts of âbeatâ and ârhythmâ and started with rhythm sticks and shakers to practice. Â We did some freeze dancing, some tick-tock beat keeping, and some major scale hop-scotching, using our bodies to learn about rhythm and melody. Â After my recent trip to Sao Paolo, we had a chance to look at some instruments from Brazil and learn a fun (and tricky!) multi-part song about mangos, kiwis and bananas. Looking forward to lots more music creation, learning and fun in the coming weeks!

Escher, Swiss, The Cube No Way Out...According To NDKE/CH Today...
Some construction C given. Some space and so some volume V too. Then the ratio of  C/V:=dimension. Well, if 1 is the whole, what is the ratio of 1/D=? It is D=1 and so 1/D=1. But if D<1 then it is (exchanged variable) f(x)=1/x=y. So, it is either 1 or y? But if the whole (pic) is 1 then what is smaller than one? It is the missing material. What is 1? It is the material. So, if missing is something, then it is >0 and is not the whole, else it would be =0. So, the case is, that it exists, but it is not the whole it is missing whole, so 1/x<1.Â
So, if 1 allows me to shit on the floor and to earn money, due to the fact I emotionaly mean, not 1, smaller than one, them, them, them, and so earn 1000 CHF/h...then I AM. I AM. THEM OUT.Â

Summary: Jagged's Shark! Doo doo doo doo doo doo!
Notes:Â Jaggedâs shark! Doo doo doo doo doo doo! (@norakwamiâ fault, there.) For real, though. Look up the lawyerâs first and last name for extra lulz. I research too much. And also I love puns. Also researched diplomatic immunityâLilaâs mom could refuse to waive it only for her bosses to override her and waive it anyway. And for serious crimes thatâs sometimes the case. I wanted some Alya sugar here; yeah, she and multiple other people believed Lila and dismissed Marinette's concerns. The adults are the ones who deserve salt, though. Not a 14-year-old.

--------------
They were still waiting for M. Damocles to finish contacting Mme. Rossi, Marinette having fallen asleep against Sabine and Adrien tempted to follow suit, when a commotion caught their attention. Marinette blinked awake at the shouting.
Curious, Adrien got up to peer around the corner. What he saw left him gaping.
Mme. Bustierâs class had spilled out of the classroom, and were watching as Lila and her mother yelled at each other in rapid-fire Italian, both red-faced. It was almost shocking how they met the stereotype of the hot-blooded Italian in their fervor.
Adrien watched, captivated, only vaguely aware when he was joined by the others, and when the lawyer knocked on the principalâs door and let him know about the âspectacle,â as she called it.
Marinette cried out, her face pale, pointing at a butterfly hovering near the scene. Alya took out her phone to record it, her face a mix of horror and excitement, as though she wasnât sure she wanted an Akuma just now. MylĂšne started crying. Juleka moved protectively in front of Rose. Other classroom doors were opening as teachers and students alike came to investigate the commotion.
The Akuma hovered, seemingly uncertain as to which of the Rossis it wanted to go after. Unfortunately, Lila saw it, her expression brightening as she dashed toward it.
âIâll show you all!â
Adrien gasped as the girl touched her pendant to the Akuma and a familiar butterfly-shaped mask appeared over her face. She would come after him and Marinette, and probably Luka and Kagami. And Jagged and Penny and the lawyer and Tom and Sabine⊠They were all defenseless. He wasnât sure heâd be able to get away quick enough to protect them.
As he stood there, frozen, Alya dropped her phone, rushed forward, and clocked Lila in the face. Once she was on the ground, she ripped the necklace from her neck. Mme. Mendeleiev rushed forward with a large beaker from her chemistry lab as Alya broke the pendant, capturing it and covering the opening with a book.
Marinette rushing past him unfroze Adrien, and he ran after her as she hugged a pale, panting Alya.
âAlya, that was amazing,â she breathed. âYou saved everyone.â
âMariâ Oh, god, Mari. She wanted to be Akumatized. She was going to go after you and hurt you, and I just couldnâtââ Alya was sobbing in her arms, babbling. âIâm so sorry I didnât believe you. Iâve been a terrible friend! You tried to tell me, and p-protect me and instead I believed someone I barely knew instead of you. I c-couldnât let her hurt you!â
As Marinette reassured her, Mme. Mendeleiev told a pallid and shaking M. Damocles that she would put the Akuma somewhere Lila couldnât reach it for Ladybug and Chat Noir to deal with later.
Lila was keening softly on the ground, her nose obviously broken with this punch, and Adrien couldnât help but feel a bit of schadenfreude at the sight. Her mother seemed frozen in shock, not even moving forward to comfort her daughter.
âAlya got the Akuma on video,â he murmured, thinking aloud. âSo thereâs video of Lila going after it to be voluntarily Akumatized.â
Nino picked up Alyaâs phone, checking to see that nothing was broken. He pressed the screen to stop the recording. âYeah, dude. She totally did. Sabrina, you might wanna call your dad. This is big.â
Sabrina immediately pulled out her phone and retreated into the classroom; ChloĂ© blocked the door to make sure Lila didnât try to stop her, though it seemed unnecessaryâthe girl gave no indication sheâd heard.
M. Damocles stepped forward toward Mme. Rossi. âWe will need to have a conversation about your daughter, but perhaps that will need to wait until after her arrest.â
Mme. Rossi turned white, eyes wide. âA-arrest?!â
âYour daughter just knowingly and willingly attempted to aid and abet a terrorist, Mme. Rossi,â the lawyer said, not unkindly. âShe will face far more than just the lawsuits by M. Stone, M. Dupain, and Mme. Cheng.â
She stared at the lawyer as though uncomprehending.
âOf course, you could claim diplomatic immunity for your daughter, but it is likely she will at least be expelled from France, though France may choose to refer this matter to the Court of Justice of the European Union, as anti-terrorism laws extend beyond our borders.â
âWho are you?â Mme. Rossi finally demanded.
The lawyer smiled her best shark smile. âI am the head of M. Stoneâs legal team, MaĂźtre Eulalie Reschignier.â
Adrien tried not to smile when he realized her name was almost a pun.
âMy daughter has diplomatic immunity from all lawsuits, as Iâm sure you are aware.â
The shark smile became a bit toothy. âWeâre aware of that, but also aware that she can be expelled from France at the discretion of the French government.â
Whatever response Lilaâs mother intended to give was interrupted by the arrival of Lieutenant Raincomprix and a retinue of other officers.
Nino stepped forward and played the video for the officers. Afterward, Roger approached the still-crying Alya to explain theyâd have to take in her phone as evidence until the file could be processed. She just nodded, accepting the temporary loss; she hadnât let go of Marinette yet.
Then he turned to Mme. Rossi. âWeâll have her injuries checked at the station, but it appears your daughter was attempting to voluntarily become an Akuma. While Akuma victims are never prosecuted, this is a very different issue.â
Mme. Rossi balked. âMy daughter has diplomatic immunity!â
âWeâre aware,â Officer Raincomprix said with a nod. âSince she has diplomatic immunity, sheâll be moved to a facility outside of Paris pending her likely expulsion back to Italy. Since she attempted to aid and abet a terrorist, your home country will decide whether to waive her diplomatic immunity, but regardless she is too dangerous to keep in Paris.â
That silenced Mme. Rossi, as she realized the limits of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
Several officers helped Lila off the ground and led her down the stairs toward the school entrance, followed closely by Mme. Rossi.
Adrien breathed a sigh of relief at their exit. He doubted theyâd ever have to deal with Lila againâat least not in person. And he was willing to bet Italy would take a long hard look at her. Meeting Marinetteâs eyes, he could see she was having similar balming thoughts; itâd take them all a while to heal from thisâespecially if the tears still streaming down Alyaâs cheeks and the guilt in her eyes were any indicationâbut theyâd move past this somehow, and hopefully their relationships would all be strengthened.
M. Damocles cleared his throat. âAre we finished here?â
Jaggedâs smile was almost malicious. âI donât think so. Eulalie?â
MaĂźtre Reschignier turned to the principal. âIt seems Mlle. Rossiâs removal from class will no longer be necessary. Instead, we seek anti-bullying and anti-harassment training for all school personnel in addition to the investigation into the treatment of Mlle. Dupain-Cheng.â
Adrien couldnât help but notice the elated smile that graced Mme. Mendeleievâs face briefly, taking years off her appearance, before disappearing under her usual scowl. She, at least, was clearly not opposed to any of that. Mme. Bustier, however, looked displeasedâand given that sheâd rolled over multiple times to enable both ChloĂ© and Lila, he wasnât surprised.
The lawyer smiled, this time sincerely, at Adrien and Marinette. âI believe M. Agreste and Mlle. Dupain-Cheng would be best served returning to their class while M. Stone, Mme. Rolling, M. Dupain, and Mme. Cheng iron out the specifics with you in your office, M. Damocles.â
âAh⊠Of course, MaĂźtre Reschignier.â The principal pulled out a handkerchief from his breast pocket and wiped his brow. âThat seems best.â
Mme. Bustier gestured to enter the classroom. As Adrien moved past the lawyer, she murmured, âI do hope your father will present more of a challenge, M. Agreste.â
He couldnât hold in his laughterâoh, Adrien hoped she wrecked Gabriel Agreste.
And that he had a front-row seat when she did. And maybe some popcorn.
